Looking back at 2014

Thank you for joining us in our inaugural year, as we strive to integrate #actionagainstabuse.  2014 has been filled with many accomplishments and has set the stage for an optimistic 2015.

Here are our top 5 highlights of 2014:

#1: Became an official, 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization!

#2: Successfully piloted our first financial health program with emergency shelter residents of New York Asian Women’s Center.  We are happy to report that the participants all gained key vocational skills and have not reported any recidivism to the shelter.

#3: Launched this interactive, online community to bring together and inspire abuse survivors, service providers and advocates.  A big thank you to our team of amazing, driven contributors, Antonio Gonzales, Rikki Alrutz, Jennifer Hillman, LaTasha Whitley and Marianelli Agbulos, as well as to our wonderful website manager, Christina Bischoff!

#4: Formed a partnership with House of Ruth Maryland to deliver a financial health intervention to their transitional housing residents in 2015.

#5:  Joined Baltimore’s Sexual Assault Response Team to reduce the city’s traditionally high sexual assault rates.

Happy New Year!  Looking forward to 2015!
