Is trying to find healthy (but still yummy) foods a bit stressful? 

Here are 4 foods sure to lift your mood with their natural benefits:

  • Spinach: Contains Folic Acid — a B vitamin found to boost moods;

  • Avocado: Increases production of Serotonin — a feel-good neurotransmitter;

  • Berries: Known to release the body’s Endorphins, which decrease the sense of pain and stress;

  • And don’t forget Dark Chocolateso good in so many ways, one of which is its nutrients are proven to reduce stress and depression.  The darker, the better!  Try 70-80% cocoa.

You might mix these ingredients as a summer salad (by shaving the chocolate in olive oil for a dressing or cutting small bits right onto the salad).  Same goes for the avocado; mix with olive oil and poor on top or add slices directly to the salad.

Maybe you feel like having a smoothie?  Try placing all ingredients in a blender, frozen berries work great, adding some water to cover, and drinking this happy, healthy shake.
